History is often written in stone, but the deepest secrets are hidden in the microscopic details of our planet’s past. Paleontologists have recently unveiled a discovery that shifts our understanding of the tree of life: the earliest known evidence of annelids, or ringed worms, preserved in Cambrian microfossils dating back approximately 535 million years. These tiny specimens provide a foundational look into the evolution of bristle worms, earthworms, and leeches, long before the first majestic reptiles ever walked the Earth.

This discovery highlights a period of intense biological innovation, showing that the blueprints for complex life were being drafted in the primordial oceans much earlier than previously confirmed. The preservation of such delicate structures allows us to peer through the veil of half a billion years, witnessing the intricate beginnings of the creatures that still inhabit our soil and seas today.

In the world of Dino Age, these deep-time discoveries resonate with a chilling familiarity. Owen, while navigating the shifting landscapes of the Triassic with his mysterious amulet, has often noted that the ‘Time Fractures’—those violet tears in reality—don’t just pulse with the energy of the dinosaurs. They seem to hum with a frequency that dates back even further, to the very dawn of multicellular life. As Owen works to stabilize these fractures, he begins to realize that the instability of the timeline might be rooted in these ancient Cambrian foundations. Could these 535-million-year-old organisms be the key to understanding the source of the first fracture?
