Deep within the rugged wilderness of Canada’s Northwest Territories, a silent secret has been unearthed. Researchers have recently discovered a fossil site that rewrites the dawn of complex life on Earth. These are not the armored giants of the Jurassic, but the Ediacaran biota—mysterious, soft-bodied organisms that inhabited the seafloor over 500 million years ago. This discovery pushes back the known origins of animal movement and sexual reproduction by nearly 10 million years, revealing a world that was already becoming dynamic and complex.

The majesty of these ancient life forms reminds us that prehistory is not just a collection of bones, but a living, breathing tapestry of evolution. However, in the world of The First Fracture, such breakthroughs often come with a hidden cost. Our protagonist, Owen, knows all too well that where the past is most vivid, the present is often most fragile. The discovery in Canada resonates with the same energy signatures Owen encountered when he first discovered the amulet in Costa Rica—a sign that the rifts in time are not limited to the age of reptiles.

These ‘Time Fractures,’ recognizable by their haunting purple glow, have been known to appear near sites of intense evolutionary significance. If the Ediacaran biota is beginning to show signs of unnatural movement or displacement, it means the instability Owen is fighting to stabilize is deeper and older than we ever suspected. Every fossil found is a piece of a puzzle that could either save our timeline or lead to its ultimate collapse.
