For decades, the Alvarezsauroid group has remained one of the most enigmatic branches of the dinosaur family tree. New high-resolution fossil scans have recently shed light on their mysterious physiology, suggesting that these theropods—once thought to be mere oddities—were actually highly specialized insectivores. With their incredibly short, stout arms and a single, powerful claw, these creatures were perfectly adapted to dismantle termite mounds and ant colonies with surgical precision.

This discovery highlights the incredible adaptability of dinosaurs over their 165-million-year reign. Evolution did not just produce massive apex predators; it crafted intricate specialists capable of thriving in specific ecological niches. However, the study of these creatures remains a puzzle, as their specialized nature makes them highly sensitive to environmental shifts—a vulnerability that echoes through the prehistoric records.

In the world of Dino Age, these specialists take on a more urgent role. During his time in the Triassic, Owen has observed that even the smallest creatures, like the Alvarezsauroids, are not immune to the chaos of the Time Fractures. His amulet, recovered from that hidden temple in Costa Rica, pulses with a frantic rhythm whenever these specialized hunters are nearby. The purple cracks in reality don’t just destabilize the landscape; they seem to amplify the predatory instincts of these insect-eaters, turning their precision into a frenzied aggression. As Owen works to stabilize the fractures, he realizes that the survival of these unique species depends on fixing the timeline before the fractures consume the very environments they evolved to master.
