Deep within the rust-colored earth of Davinópolis, Brazil, a titan has re-emerged from the depths of time. Paleontologists have officially described Dasosaurus tocantinensis, a massive long-necked sauropod that reached staggering lengths of 20 meters. Living approximately 120 million years ago during the Early Cretaceous, this majestic herbivore bridges a significant gap in our understanding of prehistoric migration, revealing a startling evolutionary kinship with species found halfway across the globe in Europe.

This discovery highlights the fluid nature of our planet’s ancient history, where continents were not isolated islands but a shifting stage for the grand march of life. The sheer scale of Dasosaurus reminds us of the splendor of an era where these giants ruled the horizon, navigating a world far more interconnected than we once imagined.

Yet, for those who have followed the journey of Owen in The First Fracture, this discovery carries a more unsettling resonance. In his travels through the unstable timelines of the Triassic and beyond, Owen often encounters creatures that defy geographical logic. When he first unearthed the mysterious amulet in a hidden Costa Rican temple, he felt the pulse of the ‘Time Fractures’—shimmering purple cracks in reality that don’t just transport matter, but tangle the very roots of the dinosaur family tree.

Is the presence of Dasosaurus relatives in Europe a simple matter of natural migration, or is it evidence of a deeper temporal instability? As Owen works to ‘stabilize’ these fractures, he witnesses firsthand how these magnificent animals suffer from the aggression and confusion caused by these rifts. The discovery of Dasosaurus tocantinensis is a reminder of the majesty we are fighting to preserve across every era.
