For years, a mystery has haunted the fossil beds of northwestern China. Amidst the remains of hundreds of prehistoric birds, paleontologists found something unsettling: clusters of crushed bones, compacted into pellets much like those produced by modern owls. The predator responsible remained a ghost in the fossil record—until now.

Recent discoveries have finally unveiled the culprit: a nimble, four-winged cousin of the Velociraptor. This majestic dromaeosaurid didn’t just run; it glided through the canopy on feathered limbs, striking from the shadows of the ancient forest. Its ability to hunt early birds mid-flight showcases a level of predatory sophistication that redefines our understanding of Cretaceous aerial combat. These creatures were not the mindless monsters of fiction, but elegant, specialized hunters perfectly adapted to their environment.

In the archives of ‘The First Fracture,’ Owen recounts a similar encounter that nearly cost him his life. While navigating a dense jungle near a shimmering purple rift, he observed how the ‘Time Fractures’ pulse with an energy that draws these aerial predators like moths to a flame. The amulet Owen discovered in Costa Rica hummed with a warning frequency as a four-winged glider emerged from the mist, its eyes reflecting the unnatural violet light of the fracture. These creatures are majestic, yet the instability of the timelines has made them increasingly territorial and aggressive, forcing Owen to use every ounce of his skill to stabilize the local fracture before the ecosystem collapsed entirely.
